Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
A non-surgical rhinoplasty utilises a filler material to correct and smoothen small irregularities, depression, hump or mild droopy nose.
Juvéderm filler is a clear hyaluronic acid gel, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume and hydration. It is designed to provide an immediate yet temporary improvement in aesthetic appearance of your nose and not to create a perfect nose. The result usually last about 9 to 12 months. Juvéderm also contains local anaesthetic to make this procedure more comfortable.
This is generally a safe and reversible procedure with no down time. The advantage of such filler is that they can be dissolved with a simple injection of hyaluronidase in the unlikely event of a lump or asymmetry.
There is likely to be slight bleeding at the site of injection. This may then cause redness and swelling associated with itching and discomfort upon pressure at the injection site for a few days particularly on smiling. Skin discolouration, hypersensitivity, haematoma and infection are rare.
There are some extremely rare but significant risks which is due to injection of the material into blood vessels over the nose such as skin loss (necrosis) and blindness. As a nose specialist and a nasal plastic surgeon, Mr Elmiyeh, is aware of the intricate anatomy and importance of nasal blood vessels. In addition, by avoiding excessive filler injection and the use of a blunt tip cannula, he reduces risk of these complications even further.
A combination of drugs such as Cimetidine and beta-blockers that reduce or inhibit hepatic metabolism with Juvéderm product is not advised.
Ingesting alcohol 48 hours before and after treatment may increase bruising and bleeding.
Avoid taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen/ Neurofen 7 days prior to your operation.
Stop taking all vitamins, herbs and diet supplements 7 days before surgery as they may increase bleeding during surgery. In particular primrose oil, garlic, Omega 3 fish oil, St John’s wort, ginger, turmeric, cumin and vitamins C & E.
Avoid application of makeup, wearing glasses and exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid manipulating the injection sites to reduce risk of infection for 48 hours.
Please avoid direct sun exposure, UV light, freezing temperature or sauna for 2 weeks.
